Finding the perfect skincare routine can be overwhelming, to say the least.

From inherited two-step skincare routines that family members swear by to viral forty-step regimens made popular by beauty influencers, there’s a lot to consider when finding out what works best for you.

If you are experiencing dry skin and don’t know where to start, do not fret. Aesthetician Lexi Grosvenor recommends this simple routine for glowing, moisturized skin.

What causes dry skin?

Dry skin can be caused by more than just genetics. The change of the seasons, environment, excessive washing, and using harsh products can all contribute to skin dryness.

A good skincare regime is key to combatting dryness.

If you are experiencing dry skin, try this routine to lock in moisture and nourish your skin from morning to night.

Step 1 ~ Cleanse (AM and PM)

First up, your cleanser. Sensitive skin cleansers are our top pick for folks with dry skin because they take care of debris without stripping the skin off essential oils that protect your skin. After cleansing lightly pat skin with a clean towel so that it is not wet, but damp for the next step of your routine.

We recommend Vanicream Gentle Face Cleanser and ZO Gentle Cleanser.

Step 2 – Hydrate (AM and PM)

Next, hydrate. No, we are not talking about a moisturizer just yet, we are talking about a good hyaluronic acid (HA). The trick to getting your skin hydrated is using HA directly after cleansing while the skin is damp. This product works like magic locking in the moisture so the skin feels more hydrated and dewy.

We recommend Neutrogena Neutrogena® Hydro Boost Hyaluronic Acid Serum

Hydrating tip: Pat HA directly onto the skin while the skin is still moist. Do not neglect the neck. Rub excess into hands for extra hydration.

Step 3 – Moisturize (AM and PM)

After, moisturize. A good, gentle moisturizer is the next step to rehydrating your skin. What we look for here are products without harsh chemicals or unnecessary ingredients that can irritate the skin or clog pores.

We recommend Vanicream Daily Facial Moisturizer and Skinceuticals Triple Lipid Restore

Step 4 – Protect (AM)

Finally, protect. We have said it once and we will say it again, SPF! Sunscreen should always be the final step to every morning routine. If you are exposed to the sun throughout the day, we recommend reapplying every two hours.

We recommend the La Roche-Posay sunscreen line.
