There are so many things in life that give us pleasure.

Spending time with loved ones, vacationing, having a superb meal, and, last but certainly not least, sex. Call us biased, but at HerMD, we love any reason to educate our patients on the benefits of sexual wellness and pleasure, because it gives us, well…pleasure. And so when we learned that vibrators have the potential to not only give us pleasure and help us orgasm, but they are also good for our health? *Ahhh*! It made us so excited, we couldn’t wait to share the good news with you.

Vibrators have been used for decades to help improve sexual function. Many of us will recall when vibrators first became really popular, that time on “Sex and City” when Charlotte becomes slightly obsessed with “The Rabbit”. Since then, it certainly seems like vibrator use has become a little less taboo, and increasingly talked about, for good reasons.

Vibrators help enhance sexual pleasure and can stimulate orgasm. In research studies, vibrator use has been shown to make it easier to achieve orgasm and increase the capacity for orgasms (yes, that means it is possible to have multiple orgasms with vibrator use!). More recently, a research study took the positive effects of vibrator use one step further: not only can vibrators help you feel good, but they are also good for your health. Researchers found that when analyzing a collection of previously-conducted research studies, vibrator use improved pelvic floor muscle strength, improved incontinence, and facilitated treatment of vulvodynia. These study results are exciting, as they demonstrate the potential for vibrators to offer a therapeutic benefit for female sexual health conditions. In the future, more research will need to be done to prove this relationship.

With so many good reasons to reach for a vibrator, we’d like to familiarize you again with the many evidence-based, HerMD-approved products available for purchase. Here are some of the vibrators we’ve been buzzing about lately (pun intended):

Maude

Vibe is a thoughtfully-designed vibrator was made to look and feel good. Modern materials, like platinum-grade silicone, make up your potential new coitus companion. Whether used solo or in partnered play, vibe focuses on external stimulation so you don’t have to. Pair with a water-based lubricant to ensure your investment lasts longer than most orgasms do.

Dame

Designed for women, by women, Dame products are crafted to nourish sexual wellness and deepen connections. Currently, there is no FDA-approved treatment options for Female Sexual Arousal Disorder or Orgasm Dysfunction. We recommend Dame’s award-winning products to our patients because they can help with both, and can be used by those with delicate skin. Our patients have found them to be less intimidating to bring into the bedroom and to have those much-needed conversations around sex with their partners. We are excited to officially carry three of their products: Eva, Aer, and Zee.

Eva is a wearable clitoral vibrator for pleasure that stays in place during sex. It tucks snugly under your labia to enhance partner play without getting in the way.

Aer is a powerful arousal tool that creates thrilling pulses of air and a soft seal around your clitoris.

Zee  is a versatile, simple bullet vibrator with three speeds and a rechargeable battery.

We love Dame products because they are thoughtfully crafted and effective
