Are you experiencing “brain fog?”
Many women begin to notice increased forgetfulness or difficulty concentrating and thinking clearly during menopause.
What is brain health?
Brain health is a state in which every individual can realize their own abilities and optimize their cognitive, emotional, psychological, and behavioral functioning to cope with life situations.
How many women does this impact? / What is the prevalence?
Brain health is important throughout all stages of a woman’s life. During menopause, many women will report mild cognitive decline (or brain fog), making brain health and optimization especially important during this time.
What are the symptoms?
Women who experience mild cognitive decline during menopause report the following symptoms:
- Memory loss
- Reduced processing speed
- Impaired executive function
- Brain fog
There are many effective and safe ways to optimize your brain health and functioning. These include:
- Prescription medication
- Physical exercise
- Getting enough sleep
- Eating well
- Reduce stress
- Mental activity (reading, crossword puzzles, puzzles, etc.)
What to expect on your visit
During your visit, you can expect your care team to listen to and address all of your concerns in a safe and trusted space. A consultation for optimizing your brain health may include:
- A history and physical examination
The changing levels of hormones that happen during menopause can impact brain health. Many women will report mild cognitive decline during menopause.
To improve cognitive skills and function, make sure you are getting enough sleep and eating right. Foods like fatty fishes, green, leafy vegetables, berries, and nuts can support optimal brain health. Activities such as knitting, crocheting, and crossword puzzles can also help.

But don’t just take our word for it…
I was welcomed and felt like I was being heard. The staff listened to my concerns and offered a plan for my health moving forward.
Michelle Wallace, NP, is phenomenal. I have had bad experiences with previous providers, but never at HerMD! She listens, she acts, and she follows up! I feel listened to, important, and well cared for with every visit. I will NEVER go elsewhere!

Personalized attention in a beautiful and comfortable environment.
Wonderful, friendly staff! Loved Dr Hahn! She provided helpful information and treatment options.
Dr. Davidson is down right amazing. She listens to your concerns and talks to you about how to address them. The office is gorgeous, welcoming and comfortable. I am so happy I’ve switched to HerMD!
Can’t recommend highly enough.
The opening of HerMD and Amy Kinnet has changed my life. I went to 3 other doctors for pelvic pain over course of 2 years and she is the only one to take my pain seriously and look for answers. Everyone in the office is warm and welcoming. Maddie is a cheerful happy face walking in, Callen is the most personable nurse I’ve ever encountered and it’s always a positive experience all around.
Love coming here for my exams, much more pleasant experience than normal doctor offices
