For some women reaching an orgasm may take longer than usual.
For others, orgasms may not be satisfying. And for others yet, reaching climax at all is difficult – even with proper stimulation. This can happen – it’s called “orgasm dysfunction”, also known as anorgasmia or female orgasmic disorder, and there’s something we can do about it.

Not necessarily, although having an open and honest conversation in the bedroom with your partner may help. Orgasm dysfunction, like female sexual arousal disorder (FSAD), can occur for a variety of reasons, including psychological, hormonal, anatomical, and medication-related causes.
Vibrators can help enhance sexual pleasure and can stimulate orgasm. In research studies, vibrator use has been shown to make it easier to achieve orgasm and increase the capacity for orgasms (yes, that means it is possible to have multiple orgasms with vibrator use). In a recent research study, researchers found that vibrators can also be good for your health, as they can improve pelvic floor muscle strength, improve incontinence, and facilitate treatment of vulvodynia. Vibrators can be used in combination with other resources, like Erotica stories in the Rosy app, and medications, to enhance sexual pleasure and desire.
The Female Sexual Function Index, or the FSFI, is a self-report survey that is used to assess sexual function. Results from the FSFI will help your provider measure your sexual health.
Currently, in the United States, there are no FDA-approved options for orgasm dysfunction. However, there is no cause for alarm as there are many off-label treatments that have evidence to support helping with orgasm dysfunction. Some of these medications include Wellbutrin, Adderall, Oxytocin, and Addyii. Over-the-counter devices, serums, therapy, and certain procedures can also help women with orgasm dysfunction.
