At HerMD, we understand that hormones, genetics, medications, lifestyle, and life stages like perimenopause or menopause can influence weight changes. Many women come to us after navigating weight-related health concerns for years, seeking concrete, evidence-based strategies to achieve their health goals.
Our medical weight management approach goes beyond temporary solutions and restrictive eating plans, providing personalized, evidence-based care to support long-term health and well-being.
We also recognize the harm that societal pressures and diet culture can cause, which is why our approach is thoughtful, compassionate, and tailored to each patient. We see women as far more than a number on the scale, promoting healthful eating, sustainable lifestyle habits, and individualized plans that support overall wellness.
Introducing Our Comprehensive Weight Management Panel
To better understand the factors that may be directly affecting your weight, HerMD offers a comprehensive weight management lab panel that evaluates metabolic, hormonal, and nutritional factors, helping our providers create a plan tailored to your individual needs.
The HerMD Weight Management Panel includes the following lab tests:
- Complete Blood Count – assesses overall blood health
- Comprehensive Metabolic Panel – checks organ function and metabolism
- Lipid Panel – evaluates “good” and “bad” cholesterol, total cholesterol, and triglycerides
- Hemoglobin A1c – assesses long-term blood sugar control, helps identify and diagnose diabetes
- Insulin – measures the level of insulin in your blood, which helps regulate blood sugar and overall metabolism. Higher insulin levels are associated not only with an increased risk of diabetes, but also with cardiovascular disease and several types of cancer.
- Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone (TSH) – evaluates thyroid function and helps detect an overactive (hyperthyroidism) or underactive (hypothyroidism) thyroid
- Free Triiodothyronine (Free T3) – measures the active form of thyroid hormone in the blood
- Vitamin B12 & Folate – evaluates key nutrients that support energy, metabolism, and overall wellness
- Amylase & Lipase – evaluates pancreatic function, which affects digestion and nutrient absorption
Together, these tests give us the insights needed to provide care that looks at your health as a whole. We know you are so much more than a single measurement, and these measurements together help us create a more comprehensive and potentially life-saving picture of your health.
